La Duquesa

La Duquesa is a working fishing port situated half way between Puerto Banus and Gibraltar. The area has been labelled the Costa Del Sol’s best kept secret, and is commonly referred to as the “Gem of the New Golden Mile.” La Duquesa is now well known for being a small and friendly holiday resort with the majority of its visitors being loyal holidaymakers that return to the area year after year.

The main focus of the resort is the beautiful traditional marina. Home to both leisure and working fishing boats, the port is where the old and the new Spain meet perfectly in the middle.

By day, the local fishermen can be seen working away, lazily stitching their nets in the afternoon sun and proudly demonstrating their catch by morning. Needless to say, the majority of their catch are served up as fantastic culinary delights in some of the best local restaurants, you will find it hard to beat the quality, freshness and good value of fish served in this area. The restaurants in the port cover just about every type of international cuisine, including French, German, Spanish, British, Dutch, Chinese, Indian and of course a variety of traditional Spanish. There are also hair salons, boutiques, shops, bars, and hire shops that provide equipment for a host of sporting facilities.

It is also possible to book dolphin trips, fishing, and a variety of beach and water sports activities from there.

The beaches either side of the marina are superbly clean and have been awarded the blue flag award for cleanliness. There are a number of beach bars offering sun loungers, tapas and drinks and waitress service to the waters edge, perfect for long sunny days doing absolutely nothing.

One of the main attractions of Duquesa is the close proximity of all facilities to each other. The Duquesa Golf Club and Hotel Spa Resort sits directly on the marina and is the only course in the whole of the coast to enjoy such a privileged position. Golf is one of the major attractions of this area in the low seasons, as not only can golfers enjoy literally falling off the 18th green into the bars and restaurants in the marina, but Duquesa is just a stones throw away from some of the other local world class courses such as Sotogrande, Valderrama and Almenara.
